Why do I need to wait to get my roof insulation?

After the installation of our Smart Retrofit metering technology, it takes us three months to benchmark your home's current energy performance. Once this is done, our team will be back to install your full Smart Retrofit system - state of the art insulation, air tightness measures and a convenient storage platform.

Where do I see the data collected by Smart Retrofit?

You will receive a report before and after your Smart Retrofit and this will provide you with a precise benchmark of your home’s energy efficiency pre and post the renovation.

Why does a Smart Retrofit target loft insulation measures?

Your roof is often the primary cause of energy loss. The energy is often lost due to a lack of correct insulation and low levels of air tightness, causing heat to escape. A Smart Retrofit tackles both these challenges by providing you with state of the art insulation coupled with air tightness measures which act together to reduce heat loss.

What if I don’t live in the province of Liege?

The Knauf Energy Solutions Smart Retrofit offer is currently only available for people living in the Province of Liege. It is our intention to offer Smart Retrofits in all regions of Belgium. Therefore, you can sign up to our waiting list and we will inform you when Smart Retrofit will be available in your region. Contact us.

How does the Smart Retrofit Guarantee work?

The Smart Retrofit Guarantee is designed to ensure that you get the energy efficiency improvements that you are promised.  Using our Smart Retrofit metering technology, we will benchmark the real energy efficiency performance of your home before and after renovation. For our roof insulation offer, you will be guaranteed a minimum of 15% energy efficiency improvement to your home, if you currently have no roof insulation. The Smart Retrofit metering technology will calculate the real energy efficiency improvements made to your home by the Smart Retrofit measure and if you receive less than a 15% improvement, you will receive a rebate on the works that is proportional to the underperformance.

Do you offer financing?

Knauf Energy Solutions does not offer its own financing solution for the retrofit works. We do however ensure that your Smart Retrofit meets the technical conditions of the existing Wallonian subsidies for loft insulation and the loan + subsidy  offer of the Société wallonne du crédit social (SWCS) (prêt a 0%)

Once I have placed my order, when can I expect my Smart Retrofit to start?

Once you have placed your order, you will be able to choose from a number of installation dates for the Smart Retrofit metering technology. In general, the installation dates for the Smart Retrofit Metering System will be available from 3 weeks after you have placed your order.

What subsidies are available for a Smart Retrofit?

The Wallonian government currently provides a subsidy solution for roof insulation measures.  During the online Smart Retrofit order process an indicative calculation is provided of the potential subsidy and tax rebate that you may be eligible for.

What finance solutions are available for a Smart Retrofit?

Knauf Energy Solutions does not offer its own financing solution for the retrofit works. We do however ensure that your Smart Retrofit meets the technical conditions of the existing Wallonian subsidies for loft insulation and the loan + subsidy  offer of the Société wallonne du crédit social (SWCS) (prêt a 0%) .

What do I need to do before the installers arrive?

It’s important that your loft area is empty to allow the Smart Retrofit team to place both the insulation, as well as the air tightness measures. If you are not able to ensure that the loft area is empty, you can discuss options with one of our experts to see how best to ensure that a Smart Retrofit install is still possible. Contact us.

Will the Smart Retrofit works make a mess?

Our teams are trained to limit the inconvenience of the Smart Retrofit and as the work is limited to the loft space, there should be very little impact on the main part of your house.

Are your Smart Retrofit installers trained?

All our Smart Retrofit installers are specially trained to deliver the Knauf Energy Solutions Smart Retrofit.

Do you offer other renovation services?

For the moment, our Smart Retrofit offer is focused on delivering a thermal loft renovation - state of the art insulation, air tightness measures and a convenient storage platform, coupled with our world first Smart Retrofit Guarantee.

How long does a typical Smart Retrofit take?

A typical Smart Retrofit install should take 2 days depending on the size of the loft. This installation encompasses the delivery of state of the art insulation, air tightness measures and a convenient storage platform.  Separately, the Smart Retrofit metering technology should not take more than 2 hours to place in your home.  Overall the Smart Retrofit process plays out over the course of a year as the metering technology needs 3 months to benchmark the house’s real energy efficiency performance both pre and post renovation.  This benchmarking underpins our Smart Retrofit Guarantee to you.

Who needs to be present when the installers arrive?

Someone with access to the home needs to be present for both the install of the Smart Roof metering technology, and then later for the installation of the insulation and air tightness measures.

What about customer support after installation?

Our customer support team is available to reply to your questions after install. Contact us.

How much energy consumption does the Smart Retrofit metering technology consume?
